49ers Rookie Ricky Pearsall Recovering After Scary Shooting Incident

Bollywood Fever: San Francisco 49ers first-round rookie Ricky Pearsall is recovering from a frightening shooting incident that occurred during an attempted robbery over the weekend. Fortunately, Pearsall is expected to make a full recovery.

On Wednesday, Indianapolis Colts quarterback and former Florida Gators teammate, Anthony Richardson, opened up to the media about reaching out to Pearsall after hearing the news. Richardson said he texted and called his former teammate soon after the incident, expressing relief that Pearsall was okay.

“That’s my guy. We’ve been rockin’ together since college. So, you know I had to check on my dude, but he’s all good,” Richardson shared.

The two players shared the field during the 2022 season at Florida, where they developed a strong bond. That year, Richardson connected with Pearsall 33 times, contributing to Pearsall’s 661 receiving yards and one touchdown over 13 games.

As Pearsall recovers from both the incident and a shoulder injury that sidelined him during training camp, the 49ers have placed him on the non-football injury list, which will keep him out for the first four weeks of the season.

While Pearsall’s role upon returning is unclear, the 49ers are stacked with offensive talent, including Deebo Samuel, George Kittle, and Brandon Aiyuk. Pearsall may have to work his way into the lineup, possibly competing with Juan Jennings for the wide receiver three spot. With Brock Purdy at quarterback and Christian McCaffrey also playing a prominent role, Pearsall’s rookie season might lean more toward development as the team eyes a Super Bowl run.

San Francisco kicks off the 2024 season with a Monday night matchup against Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets. While Pearsall won’t be on the field, the 49ers will be looking to start strong with their core players ready for action.
