Assistant Coach Twila Kilgore Departs U.S. Women’s National Team
Twila Kilgore, former interim head coach of the U.S. women’s soccer team, leaves her position to explore new opportunities after a successful run, including wins at the CONCACAF Gold Cup and SheBelieves Cup.
BollywoodFever: Twila Kilgore, assistant coach for the U.S. women’s national soccer team, is leaving her role to pursue new opportunities, U.S. Soccer announced on Tuesday.
Kilgore briefly served as the team’s interim head coach following Vlatko Andonovski’s departure after the team’s disappointing exit in the round of 16 at the Women’s World Cup.
During her interim leadership, Kilgore guided the U.S. to a 10-1-3 record and helped secure victories in both the CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup and the SheBelieves Cup.
When Emma Hayes was named head coach in May, Kilgore returned to her role as assistant coach. Hayes has since led the U.S. women’s team to a gold medal at the Paris Olympics.

In a statement, Kilgore expressed gratitude for her time with the team:
“Being a part of this storied program as both an assistant and interim head coach has been both a privilege and rewarding experience. What this group has accomplished during a time of transition is a testament to all involved, and I believe an indication of continued success to come.”
Kilgore, 44, has not yet announced her next career move. Before joining the U.S. national team, she was an assistant coach for the Houston Dash of the National Women’s Soccer League and the head coach of the UC Davis women’s soccer team.
