Eric Carmen, Frontman of The Raspberries, Passes Away at 74
Bollywoodfever, March 11: Eric Carmen, the iconic voice behind the Raspberries and solo hits like “Hungry Eyes” and “All By Myself,” has passed away at the age of 74.
His wife, Amy Carmen, announced on his official website that Eric passed away peacefully in his sleep over the weekend.
“With deep sorrow, we announce the loss of Eric Carmen,” the announcement stated. “Knowing his music has touched the lives of so many for decades brings us comfort, and this will be his enduring legacy.”

Amy described the GRAMMY-nominated artist as “sweet, loving, and immensely talented,” and requested privacy for the family as they grieve this profound loss. She honored her husband’s memory by quoting his 1977 hit, “Love Is All That Matters… Faithful and Forever,” highlighting the message of love that Eric championed throughout his career.
Eric, originally from Cleveland, Ohio, rose to fame with the Raspberries, alongside Jim Bonfanti, Wally Bryson, and Dave Smalley. The band released four albums in just two years, achieving a million-selling single with “Go All the Way.”
Embarking on a solo career, Eric released six albums between 1975 and 2000, producing hits such as “Never Gonna Fall in Love Again,” “She Did It,” and “Make Me Lose Control.” He was also nominated for a GRAMMY for his work on the Footloose soundtrack with the song “Almost Paradise… Love Theme From Footloose,” performed by Mike Reno and Ann Wilson.
The music world mourned his passing, with tributes highlighting his impact. Musician John Eddie reminisced about his love for the Raspberries and their “perfect rock n roll single,” “Go All The Way.” SiriusXM host Eddie Trunk shared his personal connection to Eric’s music, noting how it introduced him to rock and influenced his career path.
Eric leaves behind his wife, Amy, and two children, Kathryn and Clayton, from his previous marriage to Susan Carmen, as the music community and fans worldwide remember his legacy.
