Former Patriots Standout Malcolm Butler Detained for Alleged DUI in Rhode Island
BollywoodFever, March 26: Malcolm Butler, the former NFL player renowned for his game-changing interception in Super Bowl XLIX that led to a Patriots victory, was arrested in Rhode Island this month, as confirmed by TMZ Sports.
Documents from the North Providence Police Department reveal that Butler was taken into custody on March 16 following a traffic stop where officers observed indications of intoxicated driving.

Authorities reported that they stopped Butler’s white Mercedes-Benz around 3:22 AM after he allegedly blocked traffic by stopping in a travel lane.
Butler claimed he had not been drinking, mentioning he was returning from a music studio session. However, police noted a strong smell of alcohol on his breath, “extremely slurred” speech, and “severely bloodshot watery eyes.” It was also observed that Butler was “sweating profusely in the face.”
After Butler declined to undergo field sobriety tests, officers proceeded to arrest him, charging him with DUI.
Butler is expected to appear in court for this charge later in the week.
Having played in the NFL from 2014 to 2020, with his last team being the Titans, the 34-year-old Butler boasts two Super Bowl wins, 17 interceptions, and 406 combined tackles across 100 career games.
