BollywoodFever: Ed Craven, co-founder of the streaming platform Kick, has addressed and dismissed viral rumors circulating about a $5 million deal with ‘Hawk Tuah’ girl Hailey Welch.
The rumor gained traction after a Twitter account, KickStreamsLive, with over 128.5K followers, posted on October 11 that Welch had secured a major deal with the platform. Despite the lack of cited sources, many users quickly believed the claim.
Craven wasted no time shutting down the speculation. Responding directly to the chatter, he stated, “This is not true,” effectively putting the rumor to rest.
This wasn’t the first time Kick had to deal with rumors of high-profile signings. Earlier, a Twitter user known as TheKickJoker claimed Kick offered a $2 million deal to controversial comedian Charleston White, who has faced legal issues, including a recent arrest on aggravated assault charges. Craven also debunked this, explaining that Kick has transitioned to the KCIP model (Kick Creator Incentive Program), where creators with larger audiences can be fast-tracked through an application process rather than securing direct deals.
Craven emphasized the platform’s focus on fostering a healthy and motivated community of creators, explaining that Kick hasn’t issued new deals in a while, and rumors of new signings are largely “noise, clickbait, or third parties offering their own ‘deals’ independently.”
Kick’s strategic shift appears to be working, as Craven noted the platform is now performing better across nearly every KPI, focusing on rewarding creators fairly and maintaining community integrity.
