Sophie Turner Warns Parents About the Entertainment Industry: “Wait Until They’re 25”
Sophie Turner urges parents to reconsider letting their children enter the entertainment industry too young. The Game of Thrones star shares her personal struggles and advice for future generations.
BollywoodFever: Sophie Turner, known for her role in Game of Thrones, is encouraging parents to reconsider allowing their children to pursue careers in entertainment at a young age.
In a recent interview with The Times, Turner reflected on her own experience of entering the industry at just 13. Now 28, she offered advice: “I’d say to any parent, if your child wants to get into the industry, wait until their frontal lobe has formed, which is 25… I would highly discourage them from getting into it before they can fully process what that means.”

Turner, a mother of two, has been candid about her personal battles with depression and an eating disorder. She also discussed her 2023 divorce from Joe Jonas after four years of marriage. Turner credited her Game of Thrones co-star, Maisie Williams, for helping her navigate difficult times, humorously adding, “Without her, I don’t know where I’d be… In a crack den somewhere.”
Currently starring in the upcoming series Joan as a glamorous diamond thief, Turner remains her own toughest critic, stating, “I’m hyper-critical of my performance… It’s just, ‘I could have done that better.’” Despite this, she welcomed the opportunity to enjoy the fun costumes and styling of her new role, a stark contrast to her previous work.
