Tampa Bay Rays Acquire Richard Lovelady from Chicago Cubs in Exchange for Jeff Belge

The Tampa Bay Rays acquired Richard Lovelady from the Chicago Cubs on Saturday in a trade for fellow left-handed pitcher Jeff Belge. To make room for Lovelady on their 40-man roster, the Rays transferred right-hander Jacob Waguespack to the 60-day injured list.

Lovelady, 28, has a 0-1 record with a 7.94 ERA over seven relief appearances this season with Chicago. Throughout his career, he holds a 2-7 record with a 5.48 ERA in 80 relief appearances with the Kansas City Royals, Oakland Athletics, and Cubs. Belge, 26, has yet to debut in the majors, and has recorded a 1-1 record with a 4.20 ERA in 11 relief appearances this season with Double-A Montgomery.
