Tia Mowry Opens Up About Her Relationship Journey and First Love Cory Hardrict

BollywoodFever: Tia Mowry, 46, has opened up about her relationship history in the premiere episode of her new reality series Tia Mowry: My Next Act, sharing that her ex-husband, Cory Hardrict, was her “first everything” since she wasn’t allowed to date until adulthood.
“I wasn’t even allowed to date until I was 18 years old,” Mowry revealed during a confessional on the show. “I met Cory when I turned 20, and I lost my virginity at 25. There, I said it! And then we got married! Boom!”
The Sister, Sister star reflected on her late dating start while chatting with her friend and fellow actress, Essence Atkins. Mowry shared that Hardrict, 44, was her first serious boyfriend. “You know I’ve never dated,” Mowry said. “Cory was my first … everything!” to which Atkins replied, “That’s right, you haven’t!”
Fans reacted to Mowry’s candid revelation on social media, with many expressing admiration for the couple’s commitment during their courtship. “Cory waiting 5 years to sleep with Tia after they first met when she was 20, then he immediately married her after. That’s actually so sweet,” one user posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Mowry has previously discussed her decision to wait until her mid-20s to be intimate with Hardrict. In a 2013 interview with Ebony, she said, “My husband and I, we were friends for a whole year before we decided to start dating. And even once we started dating, we waited.”
However, after 14 years of marriage, Mowry and Hardrict decided to go their separate ways. In October 2022, Mowry filed for divorce, later sharing a heartfelt message about the split. “These decisions are never easy, and not without sadness,” she wrote. “We will maintain a friendship as we co-parent our beautiful children.”
The ex-couple shares two children together, 13-year-old son Cree and 6-year-old daughter Cairo, and they continue to prioritize co-parenting.
