UK Government to Investigate Soaring Concert Ticket Prices Amid Oasis Reunion Demand
The UK government will review concert ticket pricing practices, including dynamic pricing, after fans faced inflated costs for Oasis reunion shows.
Bollywood Fever: The UK government has announced an investigation into the soaring prices of concert tickets sold on official websites, following complaints from fans trying to secure tickets for next year’s highly anticipated Oasis reunion shows.
The decision comes after many fans experienced significantly inflated costs over the weekend, with some tickets selling for more than double their original face value.
Culture Minister Lisa Nandy expressed concern over the use of dynamic pricing, a practice where ticket prices increase as demand surges.
It’s depressing to see vastly inflated prices on sites operated by authorized retailers, which could exclude some fans from attending these shows,” Nandy said in a statement released late Sunday.

The government plans to include the transparency and use of dynamic pricing in a broader review of ticket sales and consumer protection that was already underway.
Nandy emphasized the importance of working with artists, the industry, and fans to create a fairer system. “We can end the scourge of touts, rip-off resales, and ensure tickets are sold at fair prices,” she added.
Lucy Powell, Leader of the House of Commons, highlighted the issue by revealing that she purchased two tickets from an official retailer for £350 ($460) each—more than double their original price.

Powell’s experience reflects the frustration of many fans who spent hours in online queues only to face inflated prices.
Oasis, the iconic British band formed in Manchester in 1991, recently announced 17 shows across the United Kingdom and Ireland, set to begin in Cardiff in July 2025.
The reunion tour will also include performances in Manchester, London, Edinburgh, and Dublin.
All tickets for the UK shows sold out within approximately 10 hours on Saturday, leaving many fans disappointed.
As the government prepares to review the practices surrounding ticket sales, this investigation could lead to significant changes in how concert tickets are priced and sold in the future.
The aim is to protect consumers from unfair practices and ensure that fans can enjoy live music without facing exorbitant costs.
