Wim Wenders to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award at 37th European Film Awards
German director Wim Wenders, known for classics like “Paris, Texas” and “Wings of Desire,” will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 37th European Film Awards in December.
Bollywood Fever: Renowned German filmmaker Wim Wenders is set to be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 37th European Film Awards, recognizing his extraordinary contributions to cinema over several decades.
The award ceremony will take place on December 7 in Lucerne, Switzerland, where Wenders will be celebrated as an honorary guest.
Wenders, a pivotal figure in the New German Cinema movement, has left an indelible mark on the film industry with a body of work that spans a variety of genres and styles.
His illustrious career includes numerous accolades from prestigious film festivals such as Cannes, Venice, and Berlin. He has also garnered a BAFTA Award and three Oscar nominations.
Among his most celebrated works is the Road Movie trilogy—Alice in the Cities (1974), The Wrong Move (1975), and Kings of the Road (1976)—which cemented his reputation as a master storyteller.
His 1984 film Paris, Texas earned him the Palme d’Or at Cannes and a BAFTA Award for Best Director, while Wings of Desire (1987) won him the Best Director award at Cannes. His most recent film, Perfect Days, was nominated for the Best International Film Oscar.

Wenders’ contributions to the European film community extend beyond his films. He served as the president of the European Film Academy from 1996 to 2020 and was one of its founding members.
His leadership and dedication to the Academy have played a significant role in shaping the landscape of European cinema.

Wenders’ Lifetime Achievement Award at the European Film Awards is a testament to his enduring influence on global cinema and his unwavering commitment to exploring the human experience through film.
As he prepares to receive this honor, the film world reflects on his remarkable journey and the legacy he continues to build.
