Five-year-old JJ is being called a hero after saving his mother’s life by calmly calling 999 and following instructions when she collapsed in their London home.
Bollywood Fever: A five-year-old boy named JJ has been hailed as a hero after saving his mother’s life by calling 999 when she suddenly collapsed in their central London apartment. The quick-thinking child demonstrated incredible bravery and composure during a critical situation, earning widespread praise.
The incident occurred on August 8, when Ruby Natalie, 30, began feeling lightheaded and decided to lie down. Just under an hour later, her son JJ entered the room to ask for a drink. As Ruby got up to fetch it, she fainted in the hallway and became unconscious.
Despite his young age, JJ remained remarkably calm. He used his mother’s phone to dial 999 and speak with an emergency operator. Paramedics later commended JJ for staying “chilled” and “very calm” during the call, where he carefully followed instructions to put his mother into the recovery position and monitor her breathing.
“There was a point where he couldn’t hear me breathing, and he calmly told the operator, ‘I don’t know if mummy has died,'” Ruby recounted. “Then I took a breath again, and he said, ‘Oh no, no! Mummy is alive! She’s alive! She’s alive!'”
Living in a new apartment in central London, JJ struggled to provide his exact address when asked by the operator. However, he did his best to describe his surroundings, mentioning that they lived in a “tall building” with “three balconies.”
JJ’s quick thinking didn’t stop there. When asked to unlock the door for the paramedics, he wisely refused, saying, “I’m only going to unlock the door when you’re here,” to ensure his family’s safety.
Ruby regained consciousness just as the paramedics arrived, alongside her fiancé Ansis, 26, who had been nearby working on his car. Ruby’s other son, nine-year-old Leo, was not home at the time, leaving JJ to manage the emergency alone.
Ruby was rushed to St Thomas’ Hospital, where doctors discovered blood around her right fallopian tube and performed emergency surgery. She spent four days in the hospital recovering, during which JJ visited her with a bouquet of flowers.
Now back home, Ruby shared how proud JJ is of his heroic actions. “He’s really chuffed with himself. He understands he’s in the newspapers, and he keeps saying, ‘Oh, I’m famous, I’m famous,'” she said.
Describing JJ as “a grown adult in a child’s body,” Ruby added, “He’s the smartest in his class, and when people hear him speak, they’re gobsmacked. Because the things he comes out with are literally like a grown man in a child’s body. His vocabulary is incredible.”
Reflecting on the life-saving actions of her young son, Ruby said, “He’s my hero.”
