Some truly heartbreaking and disturbing details have emerged surrounding the death of British mum Beth Martin, who passed away last month during a family trip to Turkey. Shockingly, a UK autopsy has revealed that her heart was missing.
Beth, 28, had travelled to Turkey with her husband Luke and their two young children. Tragedy struck during their flight when Beth suddenly became ill. By the next morning, her condition had worsened, and she was rushed to hospital after becoming “delirious.” That moment would turn out to be the last time Luke saw his wife alive.
What followed has been described by those close to the family as a horrific case of medical negligence and disrespect. Allegations have surfaced that paramedics failed to inform doctors of Beth’s known penicillin allergy, and her family claims they were denied any access to her while she was hospitalized.
Luke was informed the next day that Beth had died, but the cause of death remained unclear. Officials only mentioned heart complications and noted that she had been transferred to another medical facility.
Now, family friend Ellie Grey — who flew out to Turkey to support Luke — has shared even more devastating claims in a Facebook video. She says:
“There have been so many things that went wrong. So much negligence, so much corruption between the hospitals, the police, the prosecution. And then we find out, even after I gave explicit consent, as did Luke, that they do not touch any of her organs, we find out that when we get back to the UK that they have stolen her heart. Which is very odd, because they claimed she had a heart problem. She didn’t, but that’s what they claimed.”
A GoFundMe campaign set up to support Beth’s family — both emotionally and financially — has quickly gained traction, surpassing £200,000 after starting at £140,000 just the day before.
Ellie also revealed that after Beth’s passing, the hospital presented the grieving family with a large bill before allowing them just 20 seconds to see her body. She claims they were then instructed to carry Beth’s body — zipped in a body bag — through the hospital with the help of a translator, and place her in a coffin.
She further alleges that the hospital attempted to bury or cremate Beth the following day, but the family fought for her body to be returned to the UK. That’s when the autopsy revealed the shocking absence of her heart.
In a follow-up video, Ellie addressed more questions from the public, revealing that the family still doesn’t know exactly how Beth died. Food poisoning was ruled out, and without her heart, the UK post-mortem hasn’t been able to provide much clarity.
She also cast doubt on the hospital’s claim that they performed 45 minutes of CPR, saying there’s “no way” that could be true.
Ellie ended her message with a vow:
“I promise that we will get answers.”
According to her, the funds raised through the GoFundMe page will go towards legal action against the Turkish hospital, government, and coroner’s office. The family is determined to uncover the truth and get justice for Beth.
