Travis Kelce lands a role in the upcoming Happy Gilmore 2 after expressing his excitement on the “New Heights” podcast. Adam Sandler confirms Kelce’s involvement on The Tonight Show.
Bollywood Fever: Travis Kelce’s dream of stepping into the world of acting is about to come true, thanks to Adam Sandler.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end has been vocal about his desire to be part of the recently confirmed Happy Gilmore 2, and now, Sandler himself has made it official.
Back in May, when Netflix announced the production of the highly anticipated sequel, Kelce didn’t hide his excitement.
Speaking on the New Heights podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother Jason, Kelce enthusiastically said, “I’ll be a [expletive] extra … anything to get around Happy Gilmore, an Adam Sandler film or set — count me in. I’ll do anything in the movie. I’ll be part of it any way I possibly can.”
Sandler, appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, confirmed that Kelce will indeed make an appearance in the film. The mutual admiration between the two was evident as Sandler spoke highly of the NFL star.
“He’s a very nice guy. You guys would love him in real life,” Sandler said, adding, “What a big, handsome guy. Funny and cool as hell. He’s a stud and he’s so funny.”
Production for Happy Gilmore 2 is set to begin in a couple of weeks, according to Sandler, who revealed that they’ve put a lot of effort into the script to meet fans’ high expectations.
“We worked hard on the script, man,” Sandler shared. “People have been asking me for a long time, ‘Do Happy Gilmore 2,’ and I was always like, ‘Nah, I’ll only let you down.’”
As Kelce prepares to take on a role in the comedy sequel, he’s also gearing up for the start of the 2024 NFL season. The Kansas City Chiefs will kick off the season with a Week 1 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, Sept. 5.
