A’ja Wilson scores 30 points and grabs 14 rebounds as the Las Vegas Aces hand the Chicago Sky their seventh straight loss, securing playoff spots for the Mercury and Fever.
Bollywood Fever: A’ja Wilson delivered a stellar performance with 30 points and 14 rebounds, leading the Las Vegas Aces to a commanding 90-71 victory over the Chicago Sky on Tuesday night.
The Sky’s seventh consecutive loss also helped clinch playoff berths for the Phoenix Mercury and the idle Indiana Fever, thanks to Atlanta’s simultaneous loss to Phoenix.
Tiffany Hayes, stepping in for Kelsey Plum who rested a sore ankle, added 20 points for the Aces (21-12), while Jackie Young contributed 15 points. Chelsea Gray also had a strong showing with 13 points and 10 assists.
Wilson’s dominant effort marked her eighth game this season with at least 30 points and 10 rebounds. Her 139 points over the last four games ties Maya Moore’s 10-year-old record for the most points in a four-game WNBA span.
Wilson also filled the stat sheet with three blocks, three assists, and two steals, all without committing a single foul.
With this victory, the Aces remain a game ahead of Seattle for the fourth playoff spot, which would secure them homecourt advantage in the first round.
Chicago’s Michaela Onyenwere led her team with 15 points, while Kamilla Cardoso added 14, and Dana Evans chipped in 13 points off the bench.
Rookie Angel Reese continued her impressive season with 12 points and 16 rebounds, extending her record for double-doubles to 25.
Despite trailing 47-31 at halftime, Chicago fought back and cut the deficit to 78-68 late in the game. However, Wilson responded by scoring six straight points to put the game out of reach for the Sky.
The Aces finished strong, maintaining their lead and closing out with a 68-51 advantage heading into the final quarter.
The game, played at T-Mobile Arena rather than the Aces’ usual Mandalay Bay venue, drew 18,394 fans, the second-largest home crowd in franchise history.
