According to reports, her sister Tammy Slaton, 38, stepped in to pick up Amy’s two children, Gage and Glenn, following the incident.
Amy, 36, was arrested on Monday, September 2, at the Tennessee Safari Park in Alamo for charges including illegal possession of Schedule I and Schedule VI substances, along with two counts of child endangerment.
The arrest was confirmed by the Crockett County Sheriff’s Office, who revealed the details in a Facebook post.
The post also mentioned that deputies were called to the park after a guest was allegedly bitten by a camel. Upon arrival, officers noticed suspicious odors coming from Amy’s vehicle, which led to the discovery of illegal substances.
“Amy Slaton Halterman, 1000-Lb. Sisters reality TV star, was arrested on illegal possession of Schedule I, illegal possession of Schedule VI, and two counts of child endangerment,” the sheriff’s department confirmed.
Amy was not alone during the arrest—Brian Scott Lovvorn, who was in the vehicle with her, faces the same charges. Both Amy and Lovvorn were booked into the Crockett County Jail. The sheriff’s department emphasized that the charges remain allegations until proven otherwise.
Before her arrest, Amy reportedly sought medical attention after being bitten by a camel at the zoo. A photo released by TMZ shows Amy being taken on a stretcher with her arm wrapped in a makeshift bandage.
Tammy Slaton, who has appeared alongside Amy on 1000-Lb. Sisters, picked up Amy’s children, though it is unclear whether they were retrieved from the zoo or from the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department.
Amy shares her two sons, Gage and Glenn, with her ex-husband Michael Halterman. The situation has certainly added to the challenges the Slaton family is facing, and the case is expected to unfold further as legal proceedings continue.
