Anthony Edwards Clarifies Abortion Remark as a Product of the ‘Heat of the Moment’
Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards is retracting statements he made to a woman that seemed to encourage her to undergo an abortion. On Monday, he released a statement on his social media account addressing the purported text message exchange between him and the woman.

“I made comments in the heat of a moment that are not me, and that are not aligned with what I believe and who I want to be as a man,” Edwards wrote. “All women should be supported and empowered to make their own decisions about their bodies and what is best for them. I am handling my personal matters privately and will not be commenting on them any further at this time.”
In a leaked text message exchange, the 22-year-old Edwards was mentioned in a post that purportedly displayed a photo of a positive pregnancy test. The responses in the alleged conversation included “hell nawl can’t do dis” and “Get an abortion lol.”
The post further revealed a photo of a wire transfer amounting to $100,000, accompanied by text messages stating, “I will send you money to help you out” and “you got the money, what’s the hold up.”
Edwards and the Timberwolves are set to play against the Miami Heat on Monday night.
Among the purported screenshots shared by Jordae on Instagram is an image displaying a pending wire transfer of $100,000. However, the photo does not disclose the complete identities of the individuals engaged in the transaction, and it remains uncertain whether the transfer was successfully completed.
As of now, the Timberwolves have refrained from making any comments about the situation, especially in anticipation of their game against the Miami Heat on Monday night. Additionally, Edwards is listed as questionable on the injury report due to a right hip pointer.
