Antonela Roccuzzo Faces Online Criticism Over Gym Video Post
Bollywood Fever: Lionel Messi‘s wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, recently shared a video of herself performing squats in the gym, which sparked a wave of online mockery. Roccuzzo, who married her childhood sweetheart Messi in 2017, recorded her ‘squats and hip thrust day’ in Miami and decided to post the clip on Instagram.
The Argentina and Inter Miami WAG (wives and girlfriends of athletes) quickly became the target of social media trolling. One fan wrote, “Messi’s wife got bored and felt the need to record her gym session. The need for online attention is becoming a serious issue. Smh.” Another user commented, “Tough scene when the wife is posting squat videos to strangers on the internet.” A third person questioned, “I still don’t understand the point of recording yourself working out.” While another simply remarked, “Normal 2024 behavior.”
Roccuzzo first met Messi when the soccer legend was just five years old in their hometown of Rosario, Argentina. Their relationship became public almost 17 years later, in 2009. The couple, deeply in love, have three sons: Thiago, 11, Mateo, 8, and Ciro, 6.
Earlier this year, Messi expressed his desire to add a daughter to their family in the future. “I would love to have a girl/daughter but right now, we’re not trying,” Messi shared in an interview with ESPN. “There’s nothing concrete right now.”
Messi, who recently helped Argentina reach the Copa America final, has been living in Miami with his family for the past year following his high-profile transfer to MLS team Inter Miami.
