Apple has reached a tentative collective bargaining agreement with its first unionized store in the United States. The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers’ Coalition of Organized Retail Employees, representing employees at a Maryland retail location, announced Friday evening that a three-year deal has been struck with the company. This agreement promises an average pay increase of 10% and additional benefits for workers.
The contract now awaits approval from approximately 85 employees at the store in the Baltimore suburb of Towson, with a vote scheduled for August 6.
“By reaching a tentative agreement with Apple, we are giving our members a voice in their futures and a strong first step toward further gains,” stated the union’s negotiating committee. “Together, we can build on this success in store after store.”
Apple has yet to respond to requests for comment.

This deal follows a strike authorization by workers in May, citing over a year of negotiations without “satisfactory outcomes.”
The Maryland store is one of only two unionized Apple locations in the country. Employees there voted to unionize in June 2022, a few months before workers at a second Apple store in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, unionized with the Communications Workers of America. The Oklahoma store has yet to secure a contract with Apple.
In recent years, unions have achieved notable election victories at major companies like Amazon, Chipotle, and Starbucks, yet many have struggled to finalize contracts.
