Ariana Madix subtly shades ex Tom Sandoval while celebrating “Vanderpump Rules” Emmy nomination. Learn about the drama and reactions from the cast.
Bollywood Fever: Ariana Madix, star of “Vanderpump Rules,” took a subtle dig at her ex Tom Sandoval while congratulating her fellow cast members on their Emmy nomination for Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program. To celebrate, Madix shared a promo shot of the cast on her Instagram Story but strategically placed an animated sticker over Sandoval, effectively erasing him from the picture. The sticker, a purple and gold achievement ribbon with the text “well done,” covered Sandoval’s face.
Madix, 39, captioned the post, “Congratulations to everyone at @evolutionmedia @bravotv and to everyone who makes this show great!” She also played Taylor Swift’s “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” over the slide, a pointed choice given her recent heartbreak.
Swift’s song, which speaks about performing despite a broken heart, resonates with Madix’s own experience. In March 2023, Bravo cameras captured the fallout of “Scandoval,” when Madix and Sandoval’s nine-year relationship ended following his affair with their co-star Rachel “Raquel” Leviss. The “VPR” reunion was filmed just weeks after Madix discovered the infidelity.
Madix’s latest jab at Sandoval comes amid his legal battles. Recently, Sandoval sued Madix, accusing her of obtaining explicit videos of Leviss from his phone without permission and distributing them. Madix discovered Sandoval’s affair after finding a screen recording on his phone while he was performing with his band. She allegedly sent the evidence to Leviss, prompting Leviss to sue both Madix and Sandoval for revenge porn, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and invasion of privacy.
After Sandoval filed his complaint, Madix’s lawyer, Jordan Susman, criticized him, calling him “abhorrent” for continuing to torment Madix. “For Mr. Sandoval to go from begging Ms. Madix for forgiveness to blaming her for his wrongdoing speaks for itself,” Susman added. “He has clearly learned nothing and believes it necessary to continue torturing Ms. Madix in a vain effort to rehabilitate his image.”
“Vanderpump Rules” co-stars Katie Maloney and Scheana Shay also condemned Sandoval on social media for the lawsuit. Facing backlash from co-stars and fans, Sandoval deactivated his Instagram account.
Despite the ongoing drama, Madix remains focused on celebrating the show’s success and moving forward.
