Aryna Sabalenka offered free drinks to fans after her US Open quarterfinal victory, hoping to rally support ahead of her next match against Emma Navarro.
Bollywood Fever: Aryna Sabalenka celebrated her quarterfinal win at the US Open in New York on Tuesday night in a unique way, offering free drinks to all the fans in attendance.
The 26-year-old Belarusian made the exciting promise during her on-court interview with ESPN’s Pam Shriver, after dominating Zheng Qinwen at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
When asked how she planned to gain crowd support for her upcoming semifinal match against American Emma Navarro, Sabalenka cheekily replied,
“Drinks on me tonight!?” The crowd erupted in cheers, prompting Sabalenka to confirm her offer, “OK, guys, drink on me, and please give me some support in the next match.”
Sabalenka, who experienced a tough loss in last year’s final when fans were overwhelmingly cheering for Coco Gauff, hopes the promise of free booze will help win over the crowd this time.
With drink prices exceeding $20 at the venue, the offer could be costly, but Sabalenka appears ready to pay the price in her quest for a major championship victory.
