Aryna Sabalenka advances to her first Cincinnati Open final with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over world number one Iga Swiatek. She will compete in her ninth WTA 1000 final.
Bollywood Fever: Aryna Sabalenka secured her spot in the Cincinnati Open final for the first time, overcoming Polish world number one Iga Swiatek with a commanding 6-3, 6-3 victory in the semi-finals on Sunday.
In their third meeting of the season and their first encounter on a hard court, the Belarusian world number three delivered an impressive performance, showcasing her fast-paced, aggressive style.
Swiatek, despite a determined attempt to stage a late comeback, struggled to match Sabalenka’s speed and precision, ultimately falling short in closing the gap.
With this victory, Sabalenka advances to her ninth WTA 1000 final, set to take place on Monday. Meanwhile, the other spot in the final will be decided later on Sunday when U.S. player Jessica Pegula takes on Spain’s Paula Badosa.
