Medical personnel treated Panjoj on the sidelines, and he briefly managed to stand up before being taken off on a stretcher. According to AccuWeather, temperatures in Kansas City reached a high of 34 degrees Celsius (93 degrees Fahrenheit) with a humidity level of 53% on Tuesday, likely contributing to the referee’s fainting spell.
At halftime, the teams were tied 0-0. In Group A standings, Argentina leads with three points, while Peru and Chile each have one point. Canada remains at the bottom of the group after losing their opening match.
