A portion of bleachers collapsed at a rodeo arena in Boerne, Texas, injuring 12 people. Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation before reopening the arena.
Texas, Bollywood Fever: Authorities are investigating the collapse of a portion of bleachers at a rodeo arena in Boerne, Texas, which resulted in injuries to 12 people on Saturday night.
The incident occurred at the Kendall County Fairgrounds, located about 30 miles north of San Antonio.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after 9 p.m., following reports of the collapse during a rodeo event.
According to Boerne assistant fire chief Walter Ball, four of the injured were treated on-site, while eight others were transported to local hospitals. Six of those hospitalized have since been released.
In response to the incident, the Boerne Fire Marshal and the city’s code compliance office conducted an initial inspection of the site on Sunday morning.
Their findings indicated that a more detailed investigation by a structural engineer is necessary to determine the cause of the collapse. The rodeo arena will remain closed until the investigation is completed and the structure is deemed safe.
Due to the collapse, Sunday night’s scheduled rodeo performance was canceled. However, the Kendall County Fair Association announced that attendees could still enjoy the final day of the fair, which included food, shopping, and live entertainment.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities will provide updates as more information becomes available. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of similar structures at other events, prompting calls for more rigorous inspections and maintenance procedures to prevent future accidents.
