Bollywood Fever: Ava Kris Tyson, co-host of the popular YouTube channel MrBeast, has stepped away from the platform after addressing allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a child and apologizing to “those who feel betrayed.”
Tyson, who gained fame through her role on the MrBeast channel, posted on X, “I would like to apologize for any of my past behavior or comments if it hurt or offended anyone. It was not my intent.” She added, “Seeing recent events we’ve mutually decided it’s best I permanently step away from all things MrBeast and social media to focus on my family and mental health.”
She emphasized that she didn’t want the accusations to impact the people working at MrBeast, stating, “I never groomed anyone,” and noting that the person involved in the accusations “has vocally supported they are false.” Tyson also apologized for her past actions and social media posts, acknowledging that some might feel betrayed by her previous behavior.
Allegations against Tyson include sending risque messages to a minor she met when the person was 13 and she was 20. The two were introduced after the child won an online competition. At that time, Tyson was known as ‘Chris’ and had not yet transitioned her gender identity. Tyson, who has a son with her ex-wife, reportedly communicated with the fan on public online forums for years before meeting in person when the teen turned 16. The fan, now an adult, defends Tyson but admits some messages were “inappropriate” and “edgy.”
Following the revelations in expose-style videos and clips, several controversial posts by Tyson resurfaced, showing interactions with ‘Shadman,’ an artist known for drawing young characters in sexual poses. In one post, Tyson asked Shadman to “draw a 10-year-old anime girl,” and other posts showed Tyson sexualizing cartoon children.
This scandal follows the recent blacklisting of Dr Disrespect, a well-known Twitch gamer, who admitted to sending inappropriate messages to a minor. MrBeast, with a net worth of $700 million, is renowned for his extravagant stunts and philanthropic initiatives. His YouTube channel has 300 million subscribers, and Tyson is also a personal friend of the YouTube star.
The uproar on social media began with a series of videos claiming to show Instagram posts of Tyson and the minor who visited them at college. The images allegedly show Tyson in 2020 with two other males, but the person identified as the minor is blurred. The allegations suggest the child, known as ‘Lava,’ met Tyson through a fan meet-up after winning a contest organized by MrBeast’s YouTube channel, which he and Tyson started in 2012, according to Insider Gaming.
