Bollywood Fever: Bella Thorne recently showcased her toned figure in a bikini while calling out the popular weight loss drug Ozempic for contributing to unrealistic beauty standards. The 26-year-old Unsettled director posed in a blue animal print two-piece with a halter top and French cut bottom in a video shared on social media on Saturday.
With her auburn hair pulled back into a ponytail and appearing makeup-free, Thorne posed in a spacious hotel bathroom. She addressed her followers on Instagram Stories, expressing her frustration with the widespread use of Ozempic, a diabetes medication that has gained popularity for its remarkable weight loss effects.
“So I haven’t been feeling good about my body in a while, especially with everybody on Ozempic,” she said. Thorne criticized Hollywood’s reliance on the drug, stating, “It is setting all these crazy beauty standards that nobody can keep up with unless they’re on Ozempic.”
The Saint Clare star then detailed her exercise routine, emphasizing her commitment to staying in shape naturally. “I have swam every day and I have sweat out everything possible, and I have walked everywhere, and I’m finally feeling good about myself,” she shared. Thorne repeated her satisfaction, adding a bold statement to Ozempic users, “So Ozempic, you can… off,” accompanied by a one-fingered salute.
In another clip, Thorne posed in her swimsuit, sharing the beautiful ocean view from her hotel room in Italy, where she attended the Taormina Film Festival. Her film Saint Clare opened the festival, and her short film Unsettled enjoyed a special screening.
The Disney alum continued to embrace her natural beauty in additional clips, appearing makeup-free. “If you only knew my acne journey,” she wrote over one clip. “No effect, no makeup,” she added, reminding fans of her past Snapchat posts about popping pimples. In a cheerful moment, she smiled for the camera and sang, “cause I don’t have to do that anymore!”
Thorne is also preparing for her feature directorial debut, Color Your Hurt, an extended version of her 15-minute short film Unsettled. The film focuses on a young gay man in the Bible Belt seeking justice after being drugged and kidnapped from a gay bar. Thorne told Deadline that she approaches the project as a coming-of-age thriller, emphasizing that the film is not solely about the abuse the protagonist endured but also about his 37-year journey for justice.
As a survivor of sexual abuse herself, Thorne expressed the importance of not letting a traumatic experience define one’s entire story. “I felt it was unfair to myself and all other survivors to have your whole story be this one horrible thing that happened to you,” she said. “If somebody did a movie about my life, me being molested growing up would be such a small portion of my movie.”
Bella Thorne continues to inspire with her advocacy for natural beauty and fitness, as well as her dedication to telling complex, empowering stories through her work in film.
