Bill Belichick takes a swipe at the New York Jets’ past quarterback struggles, highlighting the team’s decision to move on from Sam Darnold, during an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show.
BollywoodFever: Bill Belichick has never been shy about his distaste for the New York Jets, and it seems like that rivalry is still alive and well, even after his departure from the New England Patriots.
In a recent appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Belichick took a jab at the Jets’ quarterback struggles, referencing their decisions to part ways with both Sam Darnold and Geno Smith.
While the Jets are hopeful with Aaron Rodgers now leading the offense, their past missteps at the quarterback position haven’t escaped Belichick’s radar.
During the interview, he pointed out that both Darnold and Smith have remained undefeated since leaving the Jets.
“Everybody has liked Darnold except the Jets,” Belichick remarked. He continued, “It seems like Carolina liked him. He was with the Rams briefly, and they wanted to re-sign him. The Vikings coaching staff liked him too. It seems the only people that didn’t were the Jets.”
Belichick’s comments highlight a lingering narrative about the Jets’ struggle to find stability at quarterback over the years.
While the Jets may have found a solution in Rodgers, their past decisions remain a sore spot—and one that Belichick clearly enjoys poking fun at.
Belichick’s rivalry with the Jets has deep roots, dating back to his infamous decision to turn down the head coaching position with the team in 2000.
His latest quip seems to be another chapter in the storied rivalry, reminding fans of the Jets’ struggles while maintaining his dominance in their shared history.
