Black Myth: Wukong has sold over 10 million copies globally in less than a week since launch, Game Science announces. The ARPG also saw 3 million concurrent players across all platforms.

Bollywood Fever: Black Myth: Wukong, the highly anticipated action role-playing game (ARPG) from Game Science, has achieved a monumental milestone, surpassing 10 million units sold across all platforms in less than a week since its release. 

The impressive sales figures were announced by the game’s developer on X/Twitter, where they expressed gratitude to the global gaming community for their overwhelming support.

Black Myth: Wukong has sold 10 million copies across all platforms. (Data as of 21:00 Beijing time, August 23, 2024),” Game Science shared in their post. The developer went on to thank players worldwide for their love and support, wishing them a “great gaming weekend.”

In addition to the staggering sales numbers, an accompanying infographic revealed that Black Myth had 3 million concurrent players across all platforms during its launch week. However, the developer did not provide a detailed breakdown of player distribution between PC and PlayStation 5.

The game’s rapid success comes amid reports from PlayStation 5 users experiencing performance issues with the title. Game Science acknowledged these concerns but has yet to provide a specific timeline for a patch to address the problems. 

Meanwhile, the Xbox Series X|S version of the game, which was delayed to meet the developer’s “quality standards,” has yet to receive a new release date.

Black Myth: Wukong draws its inspiration from the classic 16th-century Chinese novel Journey to the West and casts players as “The Destined One,” tasked with retrieving the powerful relics of Wukong. 

While the game is not a Soulslike in every sense, its influence from FromSoftware’s Dark Souls series is evident, offering players a challenging and immersive experience.
