British comedian and dog expert Tony Knight has died at 54 after a tragic accident in France. Learn more about his life, career, and the legacy he leaves behind.
Bollywood Fever: British comedian and renowned “Dog Listener” Tony Knight has tragically passed away at the age of 54. The news was confirmed by both a GoFundMe page started by his partner’s sister and the French newspaper Le Tarn Libre.
The accident occurred on June 7 at the Rock & Cars Festival in Lavaur, France, when two large tree branches struck Knight and several others in attendance. While four other people sustained injuries, they survived the incident.
According to the fundraiser, Knight “was only 54 and having the time of his life. He was fit, healthy, happy and had everything going for him. He was charismatic, funny, passionate and so very loved by [his partner] Hayley, his family, and his friends all over the world.” Knight was just a few days into his annual vacation to France.
By July 5, the GoFundMe campaign had raised $8,501 to cover Knight’s funeral expenses, medical bills, and the costs associated with managing his estate. The situation is further complicated by Knight’s unique circumstances, being “an Englishman with Australian residency living in France.”
Jo, the author of the GoFundMe page, shared that her sister, Hayley, had been in a relationship with Knight for 15 years. She spoke fondly of him, highlighting his love for comedy and his performances of the show Mad Dogs and an Englishman at various venues in Australia and overseas.
Knight was on the verge of taking his act through the United Kingdom and running his dog classes across Europe. “His passion was dogs and he helped people all over the world with his classes both in person, online, on radio and television, ebooks, and more,” Jo wrote. “He was very well respected and admired. His method worked and he loved helping people with their dogs.”
Jo also reflected on the final years of Knight’s life, which he spent with loved ones. “He’d been based on our family farm near Beaufort for the past 4 years, building a life there with Hayley and proving to be a bit of a handyman,” Jo wrote. “He just put his mind to something and he did it! He had been very happy.”
Tony Knight leaves behind a legacy of laughter, compassion, and dedication. His work with dogs and his contributions to the world of comedy will be remembered and cherished by many. As his family, friends, and fans mourn his untimely passing, they also celebrate the impact he made on their lives.
