Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin has excelled in yards after catch and screen plays, positioning him as a vital player in Week 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
BollywoodFever: Chris Godwin has been a standout performer for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers through the first three weeks of the NFL season, contributing in multiple ways. A recent analysis by Pro Football Focus (PFF) highlights Godwin’s increasing role in the team’s screen game heading into Week 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
PFF notes that the Buccaneers are making more use of Godwin on wide receiver screens this season compared to last year. “Godwin was targeted just seven times on wide screens in 2023,” PFF writes. “This season, he has already been targeted five times, catching all five for 62 yards.” Since entering the league in 2017, Godwin leads all players with 107 total targets on wide screens.
Godwin has also excelled in yards after the catch (YAC), ranking second in the league with 138 YAC, just behind Kansas City Chiefs star Rashee Rice. His ability to generate yards after the catch has been critical to Tampa Bay’s offensive success so far, and if he continues this level of play, Godwin could help the Buccaneers make a serious playoff push.
As Tampa Bay prepares to face the Eagles, Godwin’s performance will be essential to their offensive game plan, particularly through screens and yards after the catch.
