After an impressive performance against Florida, Miami QB Cam Ward is being touted by Mel Kiper as a rising star who could climb to a first-round NFL draft pick.
Bollywood Fever: The Miami Hurricanes kicked off the season in style with a commanding 41-17 victory over in-state rival Florida Gators.
Quarterback Cam Ward, a transfer from Washington State, stole the show, completing 74.3% of his passes for 385 yards and three touchdowns, earning a 95.7 quarterback rating — the fifth-highest in the country.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper, appearing on Get Up Wednesday morning, highlighted Ward as a quarterback to watch this season, predicting his draft stock could rise significantly. Kiper believes that Ward, currently projected as a mid-round NFL draft pick, has the potential to vault into the first round by the season’s end, much like LSU’s Jayden Daniels last year.
You saw last week against Florida in the Swamp what he’s capable of,” Kiper said. “All different arm angles, an unorthodox delivery, the mobility to roll right and roll left and make accurate throws.
This kid has no fear at throwing the football at any point on the field. He’s with a team that will win 11 or 12 games and be in the playoffs.”
If Ward continues his strong play, he could lead Miami to its first ACC championship and a spot in the College Football Playoff, while boosting his NFL draft prospects significantly.
