Cole Palmer, Chelsea’s rising star, wins the PFA Young Player of the Year award but emphasizes that winning trophies with the club is his main priority.
Bollywood Fever: Chelsea’s Cole Palmer expressed his delight after being named the PFA’s Young Player of the Year on Tuesday, but the attacking midfielder made it clear that helping his team win trophies is far more important than individual accolades.
The 22-year-old had an impressive debut season with Chelsea, scoring 22 goals in 34 Premier League appearances after making the switch from Manchester City. Palmer also played a significant role in England’s European Championship campaign, featuring in five of the team’s seven matches and scoring in the final, where England narrowly lost to Spain.
Reflecting on his achievement, Palmer shared that he used the Players’ Player of the Year trophy as his phone wallpaper last season for motivation. However, he emphasized that his primary focus is on contributing to Chelsea’s success as a team.
“The whole season was a great season for me personally, and hopefully, we can kick on this season,” Palmer told Sky Sports. I want to win trophies with Chelsea, that is the main thing, and then the individual awards are nice… It’s on me to produce for Chelsea, and that’s what I plan to do.”
Palmer, who recently extended his contract with Chelsea until 2033, is the third player from the club to win the PFA Young Player of the Year award, following in the footsteps of Scott Parker and Eden Hazard.
