Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese is confident the team will make the playoffs in 2025 after a promising season, fueled by her record-breaking performance.
BollywoodFever: After a rebuilding season, Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese is optimistic about the team’s future, declaring that the Sky “will make the playoffs next year!” Following the New York Liberty’s 83-69 win over the Atlanta Dream, Reese expressed her confidence, and with good reason.
The Sky finished just two games short of the eighth seed this year, outperforming early projections that had them finishing at the bottom of the league standings.
Reese, a major contributor in her rookie season, averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds, breaking the WNBA record for most consecutive double-doubles with 15.
Her standout performance was a key reason the Sky remained competitive during their rebuild.
Another bright spot for Chicago was Chennedy Carter, who returned to the WNBA after going unsigned in 2023 and posted a career-high scoring average of 17.5 points.
With Carter set to become a restricted free agent, the Sky will look to retain her, alongside Reese and center Kamilla Cardoso, forming a promising young core.
The Sky will also have $923,625 in salary cap space to improve their roster for 2025.
While the team may still be a few years away from contending for a championship, a playoff berth next season is well within reach.
