Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese surpasses A’ja Wilson’s single-season rebound record, climbing to No. 5 on the all-time list with 10 games left in her rookie season.
Bollywood Fever: Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese has made a significant mark in her debut WNBA season by surpassing Las Vegas Aces center A’ja Wilson for the most rebounds in a single season.Â
This milestone was achieved during the Sky’s game against the Washington Mystics on Wednesday.
Reese, at just 22 years old, now ranks fifth on the all-time single-season rebound list, trailing only WNBA legends Sylvia Fowles, Jonquel Jones, Tina Charles, and Alyssa Thomas.
Remarkably, Reese reached this milestone with 10 games remaining in her rookie season, highlighting her dominance on the boards.
A’ja Wilson, whom Reese surpassed, is not just any player. Wilson is a leading MVP candidate this season and has been one of the top players in the league over the past few years.
During her historic 2023 season, Wilson recorded 380 rebounds, a mark Reese has now eclipsed.
Next on Reese’s radar is Connecticut Sun star Alyssa Thomas, who secured 394 rebounds in 2023.
Wilson continues to have an outstanding season, averaging 27.1 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks per game, leading the league in both points and blocks.
As a back-to-back defending WNBA champion, Wilson’s stature in the league is immense, making Reese’s achievement even more impressive.
Reese has been a standout for the Chicago Sky throughout her rookie season, averaging 13.5 points and 12.9 rebounds per game.
Her consistent performance has established her as one of the best players in the league early in her career.
Reese has also been the most reliable starter for the Sky this season and was the only player on the roster to be named to the WNBA All-Star team.
Passing a player of Wilson’s caliber should only boost Reese’s confidence as she continues to solidify her status as one of the top athletes in the WNBA.
