Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese will miss the remainder of her rookie season due to a wrist injury. Reese led the league in double-doubles and expressed gratitude for her impactful debut.

Bollywood Fever: Chicago Sky rookie sensation Angel Reese’s remarkable first season has been cut short due to a wrist injury, the team announced on Saturday.

The injury was diagnosed following the Sky’s win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday, ending her impressive debut campaign.

Reese, the No. 7 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft from LSU, took to social media to reflect on her journey.

“What a year,” Reese posted. “I never would have imagined the last bucket of my rookie season would be a 3, but maybe that was God saying give them a taste of what they will be seeing more of in Year 2.”

Despite the injury, Reese expressed a sense of gratitude for the season she had, while also acknowledging that the injury gives her an opportunity for both a physical and mental break.

“Although this is God’s timing and not mine, I am filled with emotions right now but also filled with so much gratitude for what is next.”

Reese led the league with 26 double-doubles and set a WNBA record earlier this season with 15 consecutive double-doubles. Her dominant play on the court has solidified her place as one of the league’s rising stars.

“Through it all, I have shown that I belong in this league even when no one else believed,” Reese said in her post. “All I have ever wanted was to come into the WNBA and make an impact. I can confidently say I have done that and will strive to keep doing so.”

The Chicago Sky, currently eighth in the standings, are fighting to secure the final playoff spot in the WNBA, and Reese’s absence will be a significant blow to their postseason hopes.
