The Washington Commanders rallied in the fourth quarter to defeat the New England Patriots 20-10 in their preseason finale, showcasing their late-game prowess ahead of the regular season.
Bollywood Fever: The Washington Commanders took control in the fourth quarter of their preseason finale against the New England Patriots, transforming a close contest into a decisive 20-10 victory.
The Commanders’ comeback began with a 6-play, 45-yard drive led by quarterback Trace McSorley.
This drive, the team’s first lead of the night, culminated in a 9-yard touchdown run by running back Michael Wiley, pushing Washington ahead 13-10 with 9:29 remaining.
The Patriots quickly responded with a 9-play, 59-yard drive that brought them within striking distance at the Commanders’ 15-yard line.
However, their push stalled on a crucial fourth-and-four when quarterback Joe Milton’s scramble gained only one yard, turning the ball over on downs.
With just over six minutes remaining, the Commanders took possession at their own 14-yard line. Wide receiver Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint provided a spark with a spectacular 22-yard catch, leaping over a Patriots defender and moving Washington to their own 49-yard line.
The drive gained further momentum thanks to two significant defensive pass interference penalties against New England, each for 19 yards, advancing the Commanders deep into Patriots territory.
Seizing the opportunity, McSorley connected with receiver Martavis Bryant for a short touchdown pass, extending the Commanders’ lead to 20-10 with 3:10 left in the game.
This strong fourth-quarter performance demonstrated Washington’s ability to close out games effectively, offering a positive outlook as they prepare for the regular season.
