The Dallas Cowboys narrowly defeated the New York Giants 20-15, with Coach Brian Daboll expressing frustration over the ineffective rushing game. Key players for Dallas, including Micah Parsons, sustained injuries.
BollywoodFever: The New York Giants were heavily outscored by the Dallas Cowboys in their two matchups last season, with a combined score of 89-17.
However, Thursday night’s NFC East rivalry game at MetLife Stadium was a much closer contest.
The Cowboys managed to secure a 20-15 victory, improving their record to 2-2. The win, however, came at a cost as several key players, including star linebacker Micah Parsons, suffered injuries during the game.
Giants head coach Brian Daboll was asked post-game about his thoughts on the closer scoreline compared to last season’s blowout losses to the Cowboys.
According to a video shared by @SNYGiants, Daboll acknowledged the improvement but was still dissatisfied with the result. “The result stunk,” Daboll said, but he pointed to some areas where he saw progress from the team.
One aspect that didn’t see improvement was the Giants’ rushing attack. Daboll expressed frustration, especially with their inability to establish a ground game.
I would say we got to do a better job in the run game,” Daboll said. “That starts with me. But we tried a variety of things and we couldn’t get much going. That’s why the passing game, we thought that was the right way to go with it but not fully go to passing every play, be able to stay on track a little bit.
He further added: “We went backward on a couple of these runs. They made some nice plays, did a nice job at the line of scrimmage.
We went inside, we went outside, quarterback run. It just wasn’t our night in the run game.”
The Giants ended the game with a mere 26 rushing yards on 24 carries, which led to quarterback Daniel Jones attempting 40 passes as the team struggled to move the ball on the ground.
