BollywoodFever: The USC Trojans are set to kick off their Big Ten season with a critical matchup against the Michigan Wolverines.
According to the latest odds from FanDuel Sportsbook, USC enters the game as 6.5-point favorites for this highly anticipated showdown on September 21.
Currently ranked No. 11, the Trojans have had a strong start to their season, climbing from No. 23 after impressive wins over LSU and Utah State, giving them a perfect 2-0 record.
Their early success has showcased improvements on both offense and defense. Head coach Lincoln Riley acknowledged the challenge Michigan presents, noting their strength as the defending national champions.
Yeah, I mean, they’re good,” said Riley. “Defending national champions, a lot of really good players on that roster, great home-field advantage. Texas game was, in my opinion watching it, quite a bit closer than maybe what the scoreboard indicated.”
Michigan, ranked No. 19, has struggled with consistency, leading to a drop in the standings. Their offense has taken a hit since the departure of quarterback JJ McCarthy, with current quarterback Davis Warren struggling to find his rhythm.
Warren has thrown two touchdowns but also six interceptions this season, raising concerns about their offensive efficiency.
Adding to Michigan’s woes, star tight end Colston Loveland, the team’s leading receiver, is dealing with a shoulder injury.
On the defensive side, USC has made significant strides under new coordinator D’Anton Lynn, allowing just 20 points and limiting opponents to only four plays of over 20 yards this season.
This game will mark the 11th all-time meeting between these two storied programs, with USC holding a 6-4 lead in the series. The Trojans have won the last three matchups, adding an extra layer of excitement to this contest.
A victory for USC would not only keep their undefeated streak alive but also strengthen their case as serious contenders for the Big Ten Championship and a spot in the College Football Playoff.
