Severe flooding in Indonesia’s North Maluku province leaves seven dead and several missing as rescue efforts continue in Ternate city after heavy rainfall triggered landslides.
Bollywood Fever: Seven people have been confirmed dead, and several others are missing following severe floods in Indonesia’s North Maluku province on Sunday.
The floods, triggered by heavy rainfall since Saturday, struck Ternate island, particularly affecting Ternate city, according to the local search and rescue agency, Basarnas.
Rescue teams are actively working to evacuate victims who were caught in landslides and debris carried away by the floodwaters.
Basarnas reported that two people were found alive, though the search for additional survivors continues.

While some local media outlets, including Detik.com and Kompas TV, have reported that the death toll could be as high as 11, Basarnas officials have not yet confirmed this figure.
This disaster follows a similar tragedy in May, when flash floods and mudslides in Indonesia’s West Sumatra province claimed the lives of over 60 people.
Indonesia, a vast archipelago, frequently experiences such natural disasters, often exacerbated by heavy rainfall during the monsoon season.
Rescue operations in North Maluku are ongoing as authorities strive to locate the missing and provide assistance to those affected by the devastating floods.
