Sean “Diddy” Combs’ legal team claims “freak-off” tapes show consensual moments, countering ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura’s abuse allegations in her 2023 lawsuit.
Sean “Diddy” Combs has come forward to defend himself against abuse allegations from his ex-girlfriend, Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura, by asserting that the so-called “freak-off” tapes confirm his innocence.
The hip-hop mogul’s legal team argues that the videos, which allegedly feature consensual interactions between adults, contradict Ventura’s accusations of coercion and abuse outlined in her November 2023 sexual assault lawsuit.
Tapes as Evidence
In a motion filed Tuesday in New York federal court, Combs’ attorneys stated, “These videos… confirm Mr. Combs’ innocence and… their full exculpatory value cannot be investigated and used unless they are electronically produced.”
The defense claims the nine tapes show private moments between consenting adults during Combs and Ventura’s decade-long relationship, which ended in 2018.
According to his team, the recordings demonstrate Ventura’s active participation, describing her as “happy, dominant, and completely in control.”
They also refute Ventura’s claim that the tapes were kept as “collateral,” asserting they were found on her own device, not Combs’.

Allegations of Sexist Stereotypes
Combs’ lawyers have criticized prosecutors for perpetuating what they call “sexist stereotypes.”
They argue that the government’s position assumes women are incapable of making decisions about their sexual activity, undermining the concept of consent.
“The government is here to protect women who cannot be trusted to make their own decisions about sex,” the defense team stated, labeling this narrative both outdated and prejudicial.
Request for Full Access
To ensure a fair trial, Combs’ legal team has requested complete access to the tapes.
They maintain that the footage will show no evidence of coercion, violence, or criminal behavior, despite Ventura’s serious allegations.
Combs’ defense hinges on these recordings, which they believe will demonstrate the consensual nature of his relationship with Ventura and dismantle the accusations against him.
The trial, likely to draw significant public attention, will test the admissibility and impact of these tapes as central pieces of evidence in the case.
