After a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot stresses the need for the team to cut out errors if they hope to succeed in the upcoming FA Cup semi-final against Coventry City on April 21. Dalot highlights ongoing defensive issues and the urgency for better performance standards at the club.

Manchester United must eliminate the mistakes they’ve been making in recent Premier League games to have a shot at winning the FA Cup, according to defender Diogo Dalot following the team’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth on Saturday.

As they prepare for their FA Cup semi-final against Coventry City on April 21, United have not won in their last four league matches and have dropped to seventh in the standings after Saturday.

Bruno Fernandes scored twice to secure a 2-2 draw in a match where United struggled, following goals from Dominic Solanke and Justin Kluivert that had given Bournemouth the lead.

United continued to let their opponents create too many scoring opportunities, with Bournemouth attempting 20 shots to United’s eight. Under Erik Ten Hag, United have netted 47 goals this season, the fewest of any top 10 team, while allowing 48.

“We definitely need to step up our game because it’s far from what this club stands for,” Dalot said in a post-match interview regarding the high number of shots allowed by United.

“We must own up to these errors; there’s no escaping it. This club always sets high standards.”

“We have to be accountable for these kinds of errors we’re making as a team if we aim to compete for the major trophies. The FA Cup final is a significant opportunity for us.”

With 50 points from 32 league matches, United are currently behind sixth-place Newcastle United on goal difference. They will face Coventry at Wembley on April 21 and then host Sheffield United in a league match three days later.
