Donald Glover has unveiled a new Childish Gambino album, which he describes as “the finished version of 3.15.20, the album I put out 4 years ago.” Titled Atavista, the 11-track record includes the new song “Little Foot Big Foot” featuring Young Nudy. The track also comes with a black-and-white music video directed by his longtime collaborator Hiro Murai and features Quinta Brunson, Monyett Crump, Rob Bynes, and others.
Glover initially released his most recent Gambino album, 3.15.20, in 2020. He first uploaded an unfinished studio album to the website donaldgloverpresents.com before later taking it down. This early version included songs that are similar, if not identical, to those on Atavista. When it resurfaced on streaming platforms a week later, it was under the name 3.15.20 but with new song titles and guest appearances by Ariana Grande, Kadhja Bonet, 21 Savage, Ink, and others.
In his announcement, Glover explains that most of the songs on Atavista are polished versions of those from the earlier album. He also reveals, “There’s a special vinyl coming soon w/ visuals for each song. The all new Childish Gambino album comes out in the summer.”
Since the release of 3.15.20, Glover has been involved in several film and television projects. His acclaimed FX series Atlanta concluded, he served as executive producer for the Prime Video series Swarm in 2022, his remake of Mr. & Mrs. Smith with Maya Erskine premiered this year, and he’s been selected to develop his upcoming Disney+ series Lando into a feature film.
