Donald Trump’s Campaign Boosted by $50 Million Donation from Timothy Mellon

Donald Trump’s presidential campaign receives a significant $50 million boost from conservative billionaire Timothy Mellon, bolstering the “MAGA Inc” Super-Pac fund.

United States, Bollywood Fever: Donald Trump’s presidential campaign has been bolstered by a substantial $50 million (£39.5m) donation from conservative billionaire Timothy Mellon, according to a federal filing disclosed on Thursday. The Super-Pac fund, named “MAGA Inc,” reported to the Federal Election Commission that it received over $68 million from donors last month.

Reuters reported that Mr. Mellon, an heir to the Pittsburgh-based Mellon banking family, contributed $50 million. An additional $10 million came from billionaires Liz and Dick Uihlein. U.S. media reported that Mr. Mellon made the donation the day after Trump was convicted on 34 charges of falsifying business records in his New York hush-money trial.

Mr. Mellon has also been the largest donor to independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., contributing at least $20 million to the pro-Kennedy Super-Pac American Values. Super-Pacs are independent political action committees that can raise unlimited funds to support an election candidate.

The Mellon donation has enabled pro-Trump allies to outspend U.S. President Joe Biden’s supporters on campaign activities in recent weeks. Mr. Mellon, who resides in Wyoming and is rarely photographed, is an amateur pilot with investments in and leadership roles in transport-related companies. Forbes estimates the Mellon family’s worth at around $14.1 billion.

Meanwhile, Reuters reported that billionaire Mike Bloomberg has given nearly $20 million to Biden-supporting Super-Pacs. Mr. Bloomberg’s contribution includes $19 million to an independent pro-Biden group known as Future Forward or FF PAC, and an additional $900,000 to the Biden Victory Fund, which is an amalgamation of the Biden campaign and Democratic Party committees.

The Biden campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment. On Thursday, the pro-Kennedy Super-Pac reported it received approximately $280,000 last month, with none of it coming from Mr. Mellon.
