Philadelphia Eagles fans are frustrated after trailing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 24-7 at halftime in Week 4, with many calling for head coach Nick Sirianni’s dismissal ahead of the Week 5 bye.
BollywoodFever: Philadelphia Eagles fans have made their frustrations known after a rough start to their Week 4 road game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Entering the game with a 1-2 record, the Eagles trailed 24-7 at halftime, leading to a wave of strong reactions on social media calling for head coach Nick Sirianni to be fired.
Eagles Struggles in First Half
In the first two quarters, the Eagles were thoroughly outplayed, being outgained 287 yards to 69 and holding the ball for less than 10 minutes of play compared to Tampa Bay’s 20:14. Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield dominated the Eagles’ defense, going 22-of-33 for 237 yards and three total touchdowns (two passing). The Eagles’ offense, meanwhile, struggled to get going, a trend that has fans questioning Sirianni’s leadership.
Fan Reactions on Social Media
Fans took to social media to voice their displeasure with the team’s performance, with many calling for Sirianni’s firing if things don’t improve.
One fan account on X wrote, “Pack things up. Fire Nick Sirianni. Use the bye week to reset and see if Kellen Moore can coach this team.” Another fan expressed, “I hate this team. Fire Nick Sirianni.” Others pointed out the team’s consistent slow starts, with one fan stating, “When’s the last time the Eagles – under Nick Sirianni’s head coaching – came out of the gates ready to play in a game? Constantly starting slow, constantly unprepared and lost.”
Sirianni’s Tenure with the Eagles
Nick Sirianni was hired by the Eagles in January 2021, following Doug Pederson’s departure. In his first three seasons, Sirianni found success, leading the team to a 34-17 regular-season record and a Super Bowl appearance in 2023. However, Sirianni has struggled against the Buccaneers, having lost two NFC Wild Card matchups to Tampa Bay in 2022 and 2024 by a combined score of 63-24.
Looking Ahead: Week 5 Bye and Cleveland Browns Matchup
The Eagles will have an early Week 5 bye to try and regroup after their disappointing performance. They will return to action on Sunday, October 13, when they host the Cleveland Browns.
