Three years ago, during her first bout in Leeds, Bridges gave fans more than just a memorable fight. At the weigh-in, she accidentally dropped a Leeds scarf, revealing a risqué outfit that left fans buzzing.
Bridges, who fought at Headingley Stadium, recently shared her fond memories of the event on social media. “Three years ago today I had my first fight in Leeds, my beloved adopted city. It was the most incredible experience I’d had at the time, fighting in front of my fans at Headingley,” she wrote.
Since then, the Australian boxer has fought in Leeds two more times, with each event growing bigger. Her last fight in Leeds saw her perform in front of a packed 17,000-strong crowd at the Arena, solidifying her bond with the city and her fans.
Bridges added, “Nothing will ever beat the feeling of walking out to my fans before a fight…(and winning of course). Thank you to all my fans for the amazing experiences I’ve had with you. Can’t wait to make more.”
Her first fight in Leeds is also remembered for her weigh-in attire. Donning barely-there white lingerie, Bridges caught the attention of onlookers and even made Eddie Hearn, her promoter, look away in surprise as she posed on stage.
Bridges’ love for Leeds runs deep, and she expressed her admiration for Leeds United in a conversation with Ray Parlour and Alan Brazil. When asked about her connection to the team, she cited Aussie football legend Mark Viduka as a major influence. “He’s my fave, what an animal,” Bridges said. She further explained that Leeds was a massive club in Australia during the late 90s and early 2000s, making it a popular team for her generation.
