Ellen DeGeneres’ final stand-up special, “For Your Approval,” premieres on Netflix September 24. The special marks the end of her career with personal revelations and humor.
Bollywood Fever: Netflix has announced that Ellen DeGeneres‘ final stand-up special, For Your Approval, will premiere globally on September 24.Â
This special, marking the end of DeGeneres’ stand-up career, follows her previous Netflix hit, Relatable, which debuted in 2018.
For Your Approval promises to be a much-discussed event as DeGeneres dives deep into her personal experiences, addressing her life post-Hollywood, from everyday moments like raising chickens and parallel parking to the challenges of becoming a household name.
Known for her sharp wit and candid storytelling, DeGeneres uses this hour to return to her stand-up roots, exploring the absurdities of life with humor and honesty.
In the lead-up to the special, DeGeneres commented, “To answer the questions everyone is asking me – Yes, I’m going to talk about it. Yes, this is my last special. Yes, Portia really is that pretty in real life.” The “it” she refers to is her controversial departure from The Ellen DeGeneres Show after allegations of a toxic workplace culture surfaced in 2020.
DeGeneres concluded her 19-season run as host and executive producer on May 26, 2022, during which the show won 64 Daytime Emmy Awards, including 12 for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show, making it a record-holder in that category.
Directed by Joel Gallen and produced by Ben Winston and Fulwell 73 Productions, alongside DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, For Your Approval is DeGeneres’ first stand-up special in six years.
Her previous special, Relatable, was nominated for a Grammy, and prior to that, her HBO specials The Beginning and Here and Now received multiple Emmy nominations.
Ellen DeGeneres first gained international fame with her ABC sitcom Ellen, where she made television history by coming out as gay, both in real life and as her character on the show.
She further cemented her place in entertainment with her CBS sitcom The Ellen Show, her voice role as Dory in Pixar’s Finding Nemo, and her NBC game show Ellen’s Game of Games. DeGeneres is also well-known for hosting major awards shows like the Oscars.
In June, DeGeneres embarked on a multi-city stand-up tour, which kicked off in San Diego, signaling the start of her final chapter in show business. The entertainment icon is represented by CAA and Yorn, Levine, Barnes.
