England’s Rugby management faces upheaval as Defence Coach Felix Jones resigns, following the recent departure of head of strength and conditioning, Aled Walters.
London, Bollywood Fever: Defence coach Felix Jones has become the second significant figure in England’s rugby management to resign this month, according to British media reports on Saturday.
Jones, who joined the team in October 2023, stepped down just weeks after Aled Walters, the head of strength and conditioning under head coach Steve Borthwick, left to join the Ireland team.
The departures have continued with Tom Tombleson, a long-serving member of the conditioning staff, also announcing his exit this month.
Head coach Borthwick had previously praised both Jones and Walters as “integral parts” of South Africa’s Rugby World Cup 2019-winning side when they were appointed to the England team.
Jones continued his role with the Springboks as a coaching consultant through the 2023 World Cup, where they successfully defended their title.
The back-to-back departures mark a period of significant change and potential challenge for England’s rugby management team as they prepare for future competitions.
