Atlanta Falcons safety Jessie Bates III plans to get under Travis Kelce’s skin by mentioning his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, during their Sunday Night Football clash with the Kansas City Chiefs.
BollywoodFever: As the Atlanta Falcons prepare to host the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football, Falcons safety Jessie Bates III has made it clear he has a unique strategy for throwing Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce off his game — by using Kelce’s girlfriend, pop superstar Taylor Swift, as a verbal distraction.
During a recent appearance on The Pacman Jones Show, Bates admitted his goal is to get into Kelce’s head, joking that he may drop Swift’s name during the game.
“Once that clock ticks and we’re in between those lines, I see red sometimes and might say some crazy stuff to him. It may involve Taylor, it may not. It’s just part of the game, talking your little smack,” Bates said.
Swift has been spotted at both of Kelce’s games this season, sparking much attention as she cheered for her rumored boyfriend. However, it remains unclear if she will attend Sunday’s game in Atlanta.
Bates, who has had success against the Chiefs in his career, including a win in the 2021 AFC Championship game with the Cincinnati Bengals, is no stranger to facing off against Kelce and the Chiefs. While the verbal jabs might be all in good fun, Bates will no doubt look to make an impact both on and off the field.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time an opponent has used Taylor Swift to try and get under Kelce’s skin.
Before their Week 1 matchup, Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey jokingly claimed Swift was responsible for the success of Kelce’s New Heights podcast, referencing his frustration over a past Chiefs win against the Ravens in the playoffs.
Whether or not Swift is in attendance, all eyes will be on how Kelce responds to the Falcons’ attempts to distract him in what promises to be a heated primetime matchup.
