Fanmio CEO Solomon Engel responds to Nate Diaz’s lawsuit over unpaid fight earnings, calling the claims “frivolous” and asserting that Diaz has already received a substantial payment.

Bollywood Fever: Fanmio CEO Solomon Engel has responded to Nate Diaz’s lawsuit over unpaid earnings from his recent fight with Jorge Masvidal, dismissing the claims as “frivolous” and asserting that the fighter has already received a seven-figure payment.

“I look forward to resolving this dispute through the appropriate process and am confident that justice will prevail,” Engel stated in a statement obtained by TMZ Sports. “Making salacious and defamatory statements to the media in order to harm my family and I has only strengthened my resolve to ensure that the truth will triumph.”

Nate Diaz’s attorney, Jeremiah Reynolds, filed the lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Miami on Monday, claiming that Diaz was promised $10 million for the bout but has yet to receive 90% of the payment. The legal action comes less than two weeks after Diaz and Masvidal faced off in a boxing match at the Honda Center in Anaheim.

According to the lawsuit, Diaz agreed to fight Masvidal in exchange for a $9 million payday, a deal made with promoter Solomon Engel and his company, Fanmio. However, Diaz claims that after he won the 10-round clash on July 6, Engel refused to pay the agreed amount. Diaz alleges that Engel cited a lack of profit from the fight as the reason for not supplying the funds.

The lawsuit also alleges that Engel told Diaz he couldn’t fulfill the payment due to potential personal repercussions, including a possible divorce from his wife over the financial loss.

Diaz is suing for fraud and breach of contract, stating that he would have never agreed to fight Masvidal if he had known he wouldn’t be paid. “I look forward to resolving this dispute through the appropriate process and am confident that justice will prevail,” Engel said in a statement obtained by TMZ Sports. “Making salacious and defamatory statements to the media in order to harm my family and I has only strengthened my resolve to ensure that the truth will triumph.”

The fight against Masvidal was only Diaz’s second-ever professional boxing match; he previously lost to Jake Paul in the squared circle in April 2023.

As the legal battle unfolds, both sides remain firm in their positions. Diaz seeks the payment he believes he is owed, while Engel stands by his assertion that Diaz has already received a substantial portion of the agreed amount. The resolution of this dispute will likely hinge on the court’s interpretation of the contractual agreements and the evidence presented by both parties.
