Colin Gray, father of Georgia school shooter Colt Gray, faces manslaughter charges for allegedly providing his son with the weapon used in the deadly Apalachee High School shooting.

BollywoodFever: Colin Gray, the father of Georgia school shooter Colt Gray, has been receiving an overwhelming number of threats while in jail, accused of providing his 14-year-old son with the AR-15-style rifle used in the tragic shooting at Apalachee High School.

The massacre resulted in the deaths of two students and two teachers. Colin, 54, is facing four counts of manslaughter and two counts of second-degree murder.

Gray’s attorneys have filed a motion to separate him from the rest of the jail population due to concerns about his safety.

They argue that other inmates likely have feelings of anger and retribution towards him, making it dangerous for him to remain with the general population.

The motion states, “It would be reckless to assume there are no inmates who wish to harm [Gray],” especially considering the significant impact the tragedy has had on Barrow County.

Gray is currently being held at the Barrow County Detention Center, where a judge has warned that if convicted on all counts, he could face up to 180 years in prison.

Colt’s grandfather, Charles Polhamus, 81, has also spoken out, stating that his grandson was “driven” to commit the crime by his father.

Polhamus, who is Colin Gray’s former father-in-law, said, “Colt deserves to die for what he did, but I believe his father played a huge role in turning him into a mass murderer.”

Polhamus revealed that Colt’s grandmother had even visited the school shortly before the shooting to discuss his behavior.

Colt’s parents separated in 2022 after they were evicted from their home, leaving Colt to live with his father.

Polhamus believes that Colt was deeply affected by the toxic environment created by his father, who had struggled with drug addiction after a back injury.

He explained, “Living with a screamer and a hollerer for 11 years can affect anyone.” Polhamus also blamed modern technology, saying that young people like Colt are influenced by violent content online.

Colt’s mother, Marcee Gray, had called Apalachee High School just minutes before the shooting to warn of an “extreme emergency” involving her son.

In text messages seen by the Washington Post, she detailed how she alerted the school to check on Colt.

A call log from the family’s shared phone plan showed that Marcee made a 10-minute call to the school at 9:50 a.m., about 30 minutes before Colt allegedly opened fire.

Tragically, Marcee was driving toward the school from more than three hours away when she learned that the shooting had already taken place. She later received a heartbreaking message from Colt, which simply read, “I’m sorry, Mom.”

Authorities have revealed that months before the shooting, the family was visited by law enforcement after receiving an FBI tip about threats of a school shooting.

Colt denied making the threats, and Colin told officers that while he had hunting rifles, Colt was not allowed to use them unsupervised.

However, investigators now believe that Colin allowed his son access to the AR-15-style rifle used in the shooting, which may have been a Christmas gift in December.

The shooting has left the community of Barrow County devastated. On that day, students recalled Colt quietly leaving his algebra class at around 10 a.m. before returning minutes later with a gun.

One student, Bri Jones, 14, narrowly avoided opening the door to him, remembering a tip from her mother to always check before opening doors. “I froze up when I saw the gun,” she told CNN. Jones said her teacher almost opened the door, unaware that Colt was armed.

Colt fired into a neighboring classroom, where he killed teacher Richard Aspinwall in front of his students. Fourteen-year-old students Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo, along with math teacher Christina Irimie, 53, were also killed in Georgia’s deadliest school shooting.

Colt is being tried as an adult and could spend the rest of his life behind bars. His father, Colin Gray, faces additional charges of cruelty to children, alongside the murder and manslaughter charges.

The legal proceedings against both father and son continue, while the community mourns the lives lost in this senseless tragedy.
