Flutterwave and the EFCC have partnered to create a cybercrime research center in Nigeria, aiming to combat internet crime, secure business transactions, and provide opportunities for Nigerian youth.
Bollywood Fever: Flutterwave, a prominent Nigerian fintech startup, has joined forces with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to establish a cutting-edge cybercrime research center. This strategic partnership, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on June 14, 2024, in Abuja, is designed to intensify the fight against internet crime, enhance business transaction security, and create opportunities for Nigerian youth.
The newly formed center will focus on developing advanced fraud detection and prevention technologies and providing comprehensive training for law enforcement and industry professionals. The initiative aims to equip 500 young Nigerians with essential skills for the digital economy, fostering a new generation of cybersecurity experts.
In addition to training, the center will facilitate collaboration between the public and private sectors to combat financial crimes, including those involving cryptocurrencies. This partnership represents a significant step forward in securing Nigeria’s digital financial landscape and empowering its youth with valuable skills and opportunities.
By integrating the expertise of Flutterwave with the regulatory and enforcement capabilities of the EFCC, the cybercrime research center aims to set a new standard in the fight against cybercrime in Nigeria and beyond.
